The Men and Family Centre South Kaipara was established in early 2006 in response to community requests.

Run by the South Kaipara Men's Trust, the Centre offers services directed towards the needs of men, young men and their families. These services includemen & Family Centre fishing trip counselling, career development, men's groups, “father” and “son” summer activities, the Clearing Anger programme and referral to specialist services.

The Centre, where possible, works together with ManAlive, Essentially Men, Big Buddy and Change Works Trust, who offer a range or programmes targetted at men and young men.

As our slogan Tama Tu Whanau Ora suggests, the aim of the Centre is to support men to stand tall and strong in order that our relationships, families and communities may be healthy and life-giving.

  What is Counselling?

Counselling is about exploring difficulties, concerns, beliefs and ways of acting, feeling and relating that make life difficult. Here you can discover new resources for managing and resolving personal and interpersonal issues, enabling you to make changes toward positive and life affirming growth.

Counselling IS about supporting you towards wholeness and assisting you to be the person you really want to be in an accepting and respectful way.

Counselling is NOT about telling you what to think, believe and do. It is NOT about judging and criticising.
