South Head Golf Club has built a reputation as one of the very best golf courses in the Greater Auckland area, where the visitor is always assured of a friendly welcome.

Built on rolling land on the South Kaipara peninsula, the course provides a fair test for all grades of golfer.

With well-drained fairways of tightly groomed kikyuyu grass, the course is playable virtually the whole year round. The green are quite large, with excellent putting surfaces which accept a well-struck approach shot.

The fairways were originally lined with pine trees for protection from the coastal winds, but as these trees are at their 'best by' date the club is undertaking a process of selective removal of old trees followed by planting of (mainly) natives. This allows the player views across the sparkling Kaipara Harbour and a taste of sea-side golf.

The clubhouse has all the amenities to help the golfer recover from the round. Light snacks are available at all times. Full catering is provided at weekends and public holidays, and on other days by arrangement

Clubs, trundler and electric carts may be hired, but should be booked in advance.

Casual playing fees are $35 on Saturday, Sunday and public holidays, and $25 on other days.
